Who is this Standard for?

This apprenticeship is for individuals working as Fire, Emergency and Security Systems Technicians and reflects the needs of employers who employ apprentices to carry out the design, installation, commissioning and maintenance of electronic systems in and outside simple and complex premises to protect individuals, homes and properties from risk and danger. 

Programme structure

This is a level 3 apprenticeship standard that has a minimum duration of 36 months.

Assessment Plan

Apprentices who started their apprenticeship on or after 19/08/2016 will be assessed against ST0189/AP02

End-Point Assessment methods

  • Knowledge test
  • Workplace assessments consisting of:
    • real-life practical observation
    • professional discussion
