What you need to know about the Highfield Level 5 End-Point Assessment for Early Years Lead Practitioner

Who is this standard for?

Early years lead practitioners who interact with children aged birth to eight years, families, other professionals and appropriate agencies. They are responsible for supporting the quality of learning and development in their setting. The broad purpose of the occupation is to be a proactive and influential pracitioner, skilfully leading day to day practice.


Programme structure

This is a level 5 apprenticeship that has a typical duration of 5 months. Apprentices will be placed in a suitable role and supported by a tutor to achieve Level 2 maths and English. There are no mandatory qualifications for this standard.

Apprentices will be assessed against ST0551/AP01


End-Point Assessment methods

  • Observation with questions
  • Professional Discussion underpinned by portfolio of evidence
  • Case study with report and presentation and questioning
